Current COVID-19 Protocol & Precautions
COVID-19 news as of 22nd March 2020
I am devastated to say that subsequent to todays government recommendations I am ceasing to teach in person until further notice.
The current block of classes finishes week beginning 6th April 2020. However I have put this block on hold until further notice and you can carry the remaining weeks forward to the next block once I am able to start teaching again.
I will now be offering online videos and online virtual classes until further notice.
Likewise studio blocks while they are already valid for 6 months I will obviously allowing more flexibility here given that we may all be on lockdown for several months.
I will be offering options for online/remote teaching as detailed below and hope to see some of you taking up these options.
Either way I wish you and your loved ones all the best getting through this difficult time.
All the best Fiona x
Online Classes to keep you moving at home during the shutdown
I have already received requests from some of you asking me to put classes online....With this in mind I have put together a few options to help keep you moving and hopefully allow me to earn enough to keep Binky in Kibble and gravy bones. I have a few options:
£20/month Online prerecorded pilates classes
£40/month 1 Virtual Live Pilates class per week & access to the prerecorded classes
£50/month 2 Virtual Live Pilates classes per week & access to the prerecorded classes
£40 Online One-2-One sessions.
Full details below
Virtual Online Classes £20/month
While I believe strongly that Pilates should be taught personally these are extraordinary times and movement is so important to our physical, mental and emotional well being. So this package gives you access to a library of short classes online through the members portal on my website. I will be posting 3 or 4 20 minute classes each week. you can do one class or add 2 or 3 together to make a longer class depending the time you have available or what you would like to do today. As the weeks go by the library of available classes will obviously increase.... I am planning to include relaxation classes, release and mobilise sessions, weighted workouts for bone density, tougher workouts focussed on upper or lower body, or core.... however I would love your feed back on any specific classes you would like to see here.
Live Online Classes
£40/month (includes 1 class a week and access to the online portal of prerecorded classes)
£50/month (includes 2 classes a week and access to the online portal of prerecorded classes)
I am looking at starting the following live classes if you are interested in any of these classes let me know. I am provisionally looking at the the below classes however am open to suggestions if you have a burning desire to use this time to work toward the advanced/classical repertory or there are a group of you with a foam roller or TRX or even you simply want a class geared around breathing, relaxation and mobilisation let me know.
Tuesday 08:00am Gyrokinesis class
Tuesday 18:00pm Intermeadiate Pilates class
Thursday 08:00am Gentle Restorative Pilates class
Thursday 18:00pm Gyrokinesis class
with more classes to be added if there is interest.
Live Online One-2-Ones £40
Live Online Workshops £20
I may also put the following workshops online if people are interested
First Adore Your Pelvic Floor
Release your neck, liberate your shoulders
I already teach these workshops from time to time. By putting them online you can "attend" them when it's convenient to you.
Adore Your Pelvic Floor Courses Online £120
I already have a few ladies who would like to attend the Adore Your Pelvic Floor course. Rather than not running the next few courses in Edinburgh and Leith I am thinking of putting these classes online. This will mean you have the option to login to the live workshops or watch the re-runs at your convenience.
I think this should work really well as an online course as there is allot of information in each workshop so you will be able to rewatch the workshops as many times as you like.
So I can ensure you really "GET" the information and are moving correctly I would like to offer the option to have a couple of One-2-One skype chats with me.
Especially for mums this may be a fantastic option as you can watch the workshops at your leisure and don't need to travel or arrange child care.
If you would be interested in this as a option regardless of CORVID-19 let me know. I should have this up and running by the beginning of April.
Finally tips to stay healthy and sane while still adhering to COVID-19 Precautions
So back to COVID-19 (the coronavirus) given the most recent government recommendations I will not be teaching in-person until further notice.
I am devastated and quite apart from the loss of income I will really miss all of you who turn every to move, chat, heckle and tease me every week and can't wait for this all to be in our rear view mirror so we can get back together again....
and watch out because at the end of this apart from being even more OCD about hygiene I may well have become an incorrigible hugger like my great auntie Margaret. 🤗🤗🤗🤗.... and yes I have FINALLY been told this emoji means hugs not jazz hands.
If I don't see you online over the coming weeks please stay healthy, safe and sane. Keep moving, eat well and stay as connected as you can to your tribe using whatever means possible.
Humans are social creatures and dont do well with isolation or confinement. These are going to be tough times... physically, emotionally and psychologically here are some ideas to keep you on track.
📆 structure your day and make sure you maintain a routine this is extremely important for your mental health. Even if this is as simple as getting up, going to bed and eating at regular times.
🎨 Do things you enjoy.... this is a great time to get back to those activities and hobbies you love wether, that is running, gardening, baking, scrapbooking or sewing..... in fact if you love sewing or would like to learn I can highly recommend Jen Skedd a local lady who is putting her sewing classes online here is the link to contact her if you are interested.
💃 schedule some sort of movement every day, doesn't matter what it is... some thing you enjoy. Walking, running, twister with the kids or disco dancing in the lounge (dont trip on the rugs or dogs - safety first)..... it really doesn't matter as long as you are getting your heart rate up a couple of beats. Exercise and movement helps reduce stress hormones, increases happy hormones, has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body and improves your immune function.
🚶♂️Get outside every day. I know that we are going to be isolating "at home". However this currently this doesn't stop you getting our for a walk or run, Its the perfect time of year to get into the garden if you have one or even sit on your stoop or by a window if you have no other options.
🏔 A little idea if you aren't getting out or while you are working on your computer to help keep your eyes happy. Our eyes are designed to switch from focussing on something close in front of us to something in the distance. These switches back and forth lengthen and shorten the eye muscles and are great to exercise and release the muscles in the same way as we would stretch and tone any other muscles in our body. Sit by a window holding a finger 6 inches in front of your face, now focus on something outside as far away as you can. switch back and forward between these two points several times. this is a great to prevent and relieve eye strain especially if you are sitting in front of a screen all day which will hold your eye muscles at one fixed length.
👨💻 Stay in touch with grand children, friends and family using Skype. We are so lucky to be able to use social media etc to stay connected to those we love. Use it!! we are going to feel very isolated if we don't stay in touch with each other.... so plan a coffee morning with a girlfriend and sit in your favourite chair with a coffee and get on the phone for a gossip for an hour.
👩💻 I know allot of you have already done this which is wonderful to see. Get together with your neighbours and create a WhatsApp Facebook or email group so any one who needs anything can ask for help. Even if its just dropping a few necessary groceries on the step of a sick neighbour before you chap the door and dash away to a safe distance. I know some neighbours have created quite complex support networks including maths tutoring from teachers and doggie holidays to take on the pets of sick neighbours.
🧘♂️ With so many things that are currently out of our control try to focus on the tings you can control.
✔︎ Turn the news off
✔︎ Focus on your own efforts to social distance rather than what other are or are not doing.
✔︎ Limiting Social media time (I' dont include here the time you use to connect to those you love).
✔︎ Find fun things to do.
✔︎ Focus as much as possible on things YOU can do to improve your own health.
✔︎ The activities and thoughts that help you stay positive, for example think of 3 things you are grateful for.
✔︎ Focus on your kindness and grace rather than the actions of others who are unable to be kind at the moment.
I wish you all the best of health
